So, I'm just going to use this space to ramble about my life as a wife, mother, Nana and private pilot who flies a 1946 Taylorcraft. Just looking for a way to express myself and create a dialogue about the beauty of just living every day life as if it were extraordinary.

This morning I poked my head out the door to see a full moon half exposed behind a cloud and still lighting the sky so that I didn't have to turn on the yard light. The wind was moving the tree limbs and carrying a scent of freshness that almost hinted of spring. It being Feb 17th and this being northern Illinois, I realize it's just a tease to be thinking of spring, but it made me happy none the less.

Today my to do list only consists of things like clean bathrooms, vacumn, Swiffer, order my Mary Kay (my age requires that I invest in quality skin care products :-), watch Natalie, my 18 month old granddaughter, grout the back splash tile in the kitchen and paint the laundry room. Obviously more than will get done on a Friday and it will of course spill into my weekend, but that's ok - because it is February and little else can be done outside with fickle temperatures and windy conditions.

I went up to the hangar this morning and looked at the Taylorcraft that has assumed it's new location behind the Cessna 206 because I'm not flying it this winter. I climbed inside just to sit there. I put my hands on the yoke and took a deep breath, inhaling the smell of avgas, oil and the familiar scents that make up this little tube and fabric airplane. She quiets me. I can just be with her and escape the moment. Soon we'll be hand propping her and taxiing to the grass runways, but not soon enough.

I'm going to set a goal - to fly to the Lady Taildragger fly-in in September. I'll need to do some currency training and spend more time getting comfortable leaving my familiar flying space. But I need to do this, or I'm going to slip into that non-flying category so many do when little by little you leave the plane in the hangar more than you take her out to spread her wings.

Natalie's in my china cabinet exploring the wine glasses...she had her booster shots yesterday and she's a bubble off center today - somewhere between sleepy and trying too hard to stay awake....I better go investigate
